On the northwestern part of the island lies the biggest settlement of Ugljan with its 9 hamlets: Susica, Gornje Selo, Muline, Guduce, Fortostina, Varos, Ceprljanda, Lucino Selo and Batalaza. The settlement stretches over coves out of which we would accentuate coves Mostir, Cinta and Luka in Muline. Ugljan is located 11 km northwest of Preko and has a population of 1070 people that are mostly engaged in agriculture, viticulture, olive cultivation, fruit growing, fishing and tourism. The regional road that goes along the island also goes through the settlement so you will have no trouble getting around the island. And along the inner side of the breakwater in Ugljan smaller yachts can dock and docking areas for bigger ships are located southeast from the little harbour so does arriving by boat will have no troubling situations. As evidence to the fact that man has been inhabiting this area over 3000 years we have stone scrapers found in caves on Farce and Karinja jama that probably hide even older and more valuable artefacts but the caves have not been yet fully explored. Villa rustica in the Mulina cove is a mausoleum from the 1.-2. century and is the oldest locality of Roman time. Remains of stone grinders used for production of oil have also been found in the complex. On the northern side of the harbour, on the cape stands an old Franciscan convent of St. Jerome from the 1430. accompanied by a gothic church from the year 1447 that has interesting Romanesque capitals built into the cloister.
